Tim, the Blanket, and the Ticking River
A gentle, science-themed picture book for preschoolers that uses simple metaphors to explain time and space: time as a ticking river and space as a cozy blanket where things sit. Tim the Tiny Clock, Star Blanky, Luna the Little Fox, and Orbit the Balloon play and learn together.
This is Tim the Tiny Clock. He loves to tick and count moments.
This is Star Blanky. It spreads wide and holds toys and friends.
Tim ticks and time flows like a little river. The river moves and does not stop.
Star Blanky is like a big room on the floor. You can put toys near or far on the blanket.
Luna the Little Fox hops on the blanket. Tim ticks as Luna moves from near to far.
They place a small car here and a small car there. One tick moves the car a little. Many ticks move the car far.
Orbit the Balloon floats up high. When Orbit goes higher, it takes more ticks to come back down.
Time is the ticking river that keeps moving. Space is the blanket that holds where things are. Together they help us play and learn.
